On August 27, SC Solar held its grand new product launch event in Kunshan, themed “Innovate and Sail Ahead,” unveiling several core equipment products related to its XBC and perovskite cell technology. Industry experts and corporate representatives attended the event, including Art Solar’s Senior Vice President Zhang Guangchun, DAS Solar CTO Dr. Song Dengyuan, Trina Solar Vice President Dr. Chen Yifeng, GCL General Manager Tian Qingyong, SC Solar Chairman Zu Guoliang, and SC Optoelectronic General Manager Zhou Wenbin.
XBC Series Wet Processing Equipment
BC cells (Back Contact cells) feature the PN junction and metal contacts on the back of the solar cell, with no metal electrodes obstructing the front. This design increases the light-absorbing area, enhances light utilization, offers superior outdoor shading protection, and reduces hot spot effects. Additionally, BC cells represent a platform technology that can be combined with various cell technologies, such as HPBC, HBC, and TBC, demonstrating strong compatibility and development potential.
SC Solar’s newly released XBC series wet processing equipment aims to improve the cleanliness and passivation of wafer surfaces, ensuring ultra-clean cleaning post-image processing, and is paired with CVD technology to achieve single-side barrier films. This equipment features fully automated data collection for process management and SPC management of the production process. Notably, it provides real-time monitoring and visualization of critical parameters, such as chemical concentration, temperature, and flow rates in the reaction tank, laying the groundwork for future AI-driven production.
Technologically, the XBC series wet processing equipment uses micro-nano bubble water with enhanced oxidizing properties for thorough cell cleaning. Tunnel drying technology enables shorter warm-up times and more uniform temperature distribution, complemented by a new chemical concentration detection feature for optimal cleaning results. The introduction of a new clean hot water machine improves energy efficiency and safety. Additionally, the XBC series cleaning equipment features innovations in flow field design, tank design, and chain machine design to enhance both cleaning efficiency and quality. In terms of alkaline polishing, it achieves a lower alkali consumption—over a 50% reduction—and significantly improves polishing consistency, thereby expanding the process window.
The XBC series wet processing equipment represents the core equipment for next-generation photovoltaic cell production. With higher technical complexity and process technology thresholds, it will play a vital role in the photovoltaic industry’s technology upgrade phase.
Large-Area Perovskite Vacuum Sputtering Equipment
Perovskite solar cells use perovskite-type organic-metal halide semiconductors as light-absorbing materials. As a third-generation solar cell, perovskite cells offer higher efficiency, lower costs, and better light transparency, providing greater application potential compared to traditional silicon solar cells. With the maturation of perovskite cell technology, commercial applications in the photovoltaic field are becoming an inevitable trend.
The newly released product is the large-area perovskite vacuum sputtering equipment for mass production, designed for nano-level coating of perovskite cell hole transport layers and perovskite front passivation layers. The equipment features a vertical rotating sputtering structure, with glass substrate dimensions reaching 2.4m*1.2m, the largest in the perovskite industry. The production cycle is 30 seconds per piece, offering higher production efficiency. With precise design for process chamber temperature fields, airflow fields, and electromagnetic fields, this GW-level perovskite sputtering equipment ensures nano-level film uniformity within 5%, even with ultra-large widths and fast cycles.
Currently, the perovskite cell industry has entered the GW-level mass production stage. As China’s first self-developed large-size vertical rotating sputtering equipment, SC Solar integrates cutting-edge innovative technologies into this new product and possesses the capability for bulk production and product delivery.
During the launch event, guests and corporate representatives engaged in in-depth discussions on the latest developments in photovoltaic technology, evolving market demands, and future directions. DAS Solar CTO Dr. Song Dengyuan, GCL General Manager Tian Qingyong, and SC Solar’s Technical Vice President Dong Weibing shared related technical reports.
