REPowerEU Plan at a Glance

What is the REPowerEU Plan?

Launched in May 2022, REPowerEU aims at helping the EU to save energy, diversify energy supplies, and produce clean energy. Thanks to the REPowerEU plan, the EU has safeguarded its citizens and businesses from energy shortages, accelerated the transition to clean energy, and stabilized prices.

REPowerEU Achievements

Over the past two years, the REPowerEU plan has achieved the following:

  1. The reduction of gas consumption by 18%.
  2. Ensured access to secure and affordable energy for European citizens and businesses.
  3. Produced more electricity from wind and solar than from gas for the first time ever.
  4. Rapidly increased renewable energy installation.

Producing Clean Energy

The REPowerEU Plan is speeding up the green transition and promoting massive investment in renewable energy. Since 2019, the amount of solar energy produced has doubled, and more electricity was produced from renewables than gas in 2022.

As part of the EU’s REPowerEU plan, the Solar Energy Strategy puts forward an ambitious target of over 320 GW of newly installed solar photovoltaic capacity by 2025, and almost 600 GW by 2030.

A perfect example of this strategy is the consortium of independent renewable energy developers and producers who joined forces with HoloSolis to develop the French photovoltaic industry, with the launch of its fund-raising campaign to finance the largest photovoltaic panel production site in Europe. Located in Hambach, near Sarreguemines in Moselle, the Gigafactory will start production at the end of 2026. At cruising speed, from 2028 onwards, it will employ 2,000 people and produce over 10 million photovoltaic panels a year, covering the electricity needs of one million households and accounting for around 8% of European imports of Chinese photovoltaic modules.

SC SOLAR Presence in the European Market

As the world market leader of PV module manufacturing automated solutions, SC Solar will play a crucial role in helping the European Union achieve its green transition targets. As of today, SC Solar has already provided photovoltaic module production line equipment to a large number of countries such as France, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Austria, Slovenia, and Finland, with a cumulative annual production capacity of approximately 5GW. SC Solar has cooperated with prestigious clients such as Bottero, 3S Solar, Soluxtec, OPES, Energetica, and Recom, to name a few. Furthermore, SC Solar established in 2024 its first European Technical Service Center in Italy with the intention to better serve its European customers. SC Solar will continue to build strategic partnerships with European PV module manufacturers for the years to come and provide them with advanced PV module manufacturing equipment in order to increase the productivity of their photovoltaic module production plants.
