The Turkish government’s “Renewable Energy Strategy for Energy Transition 2035” outlines a target of reaching 120GW in combined solar and wind capacity by 2035. By the end of 2025, Turkey’s cumulative installed solar capacity is expected to reach 22.6GW. To accelerate this progress, the government has implemented measures such as streamlining project approvals and extending subsidies for locally produced modules.
Meanwhile, other countries in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region are also experiencing rapid growth in renewable energy. As of 2024, the region’s total installed solar capacity reached 24GW, a year-on-year increase of 25%, with Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Egypt accounting for more than 80% of that growth.
