From April 4th to 6th, SolarEX Istanbul 2024 was grandly held in Turkey. SolarEX Istanbul, which has been held for sixteen consecutive sessions, is one of the most professional photovoltaic events in the Eurasian continent. SC Solar, as a leader in intelligent equipment manufacturing in the photovoltaic industry, was invited to participate and showcased its latest photovoltaic module automation production line solutions at the exhibition.
Turkey, located at the junction of Europe and Asia, bordered by the Black Sea to the north and the Mediterranean Sea to the south, boasts abundant solar resources. In recent years, Turkey has made significant progress in the field of photovoltaics and has gradually become one of the leaders in the Middle East photovoltaic market. In order to achieve net-zero emissions by 2053, the Turkish government formulated and announced a new National Energy Plan in early 2023. It is estimated that by 2035, the proportion of renewable energy in Turkey’s energy consumption will increase to 23.7%, with a solar installed capacity reaching 52.9 GW.
Due to Turkey’s considerable domestic component manufacturing capacity, the manufacturing model primarily relies on importing cells and producing components locally. Some components are also exported to the United States or Europe, benefiting further from the wave of localization in photovoltaic manufacturing in recent years. Although Turkey’s current proportion of imported energy use is still higher than that of photovoltaic power generation, its photovoltaic industry is developing rapidly under the continuous encouragement of new government policies such as fixed electricity price subsidies (FIT) and net metering systems.
Against the backdrop of the increasing demand for photovoltaics in the Middle East region, SC Solar is targeting the Turkish market, actively building a service network, establishing a Turkish technical service center, and radiating the entire Middle East region to provide local customers with higher quality and more efficient technical support and after-sales service.
